'During the Athens edition of the Refugee Food Festival five restaurants open their kitchens to refugee chefs from 18 to 22 June. Mahboubeh Tavakoli, an Iranian asylum seeker in Athens, is cooperating with the team of the vegan - raw restaurant “YI” to prepare a menu of Iranian origin for the first day of the event in Athens. Mahboubeh has been in Athens for a year and has been cooking for events hosted by the NGO ‘Melissa – Network of Migrant Women in Greece’, where the other women refugees have come to demand her elaborate rice pilafs, garnished with dried fruits and nuts and perfumed stews flavored with cinnamon, mint, and pomegranates. The Refugee Food Festival in Athens has been jointly organized by Food Sweet Food, the Athens Insider team and UNHCR.
