Maranaos are known for their use of \'Palapa\', it\'s a pounded \"sakurab\", ginger and chili. Palapa is the cornerstone of Maranao cooking.  Sakurab is a locally-grown spice which has unique aroma, it\'s similar to white scallion but with a thinner leaf and distinct flavor.  Q: How can I cook Piaparan a Odang if I don\'t have Sakurab?  A: You can still cook this recipe even without Sakurab.
