'Soil Food Web - Under the Microscope'

06:20 Mar 7, 2022
'With magnifications ranging from around 300x to nearer 1000X we see a veritable micro-zoo in a healthy, bio-energetic live soil. In the shots you can clearly make out Amoeba, Fungal Hyphae, and large scale Algal Clusters. The macro critters are soil mites which mainly harvest the green algae but as can be seen by looking into the transparent gut, some are full of chloroplasts while others seem to have a brownish gut contents, these are likely to either be eating fungi or other critters. The end sequence of Nematodes was way beyond any expectation of a first visit to the Microscope but lo! several all clearly visible despite their incredibly small size and evident transparency.
