'Bangkok is a huge city and in this video I show you around to some of the different areas while talking about the food. I take you to two different Michelin Star restaurants and explain that is just a big deal! Thanks for watching! To see more travel pictures follow me on Instagram @jakemillerdoes Website: FIwiththetravelguy.com Filmed with a GoPro 7: https://amzn.to/3as53oX If you want to see what I bring on all my trips that\'s here: http://fiwiththetravelguy.com/best-of-travel/everything-youll-need-on-your-backpacking-trip Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and has a population of 10.5 million as of 2020 which is 15.3 percent of the country\'s population! The city is huge and one time I had been in a grab for over an hour and that’s when I just paid the guy, hopped on the subway as that would have been faster since traffic can be crazy! Bangkok is famous for it\'s nightlife scene which has grown over the years. There\'s exciting nightclubs, amazing rooftop bars, cool cocktail bars and adult themed areas. But that isn’t all! Bangkok is a foodie destination and home to a wide range of intense spices and flavors, and home to amazing street vendors and traditional shophouse eateries. The last few years has seen a wave of different cuisine from around the world descend on the city, with top chefs coming in to dazzle diners. Bangkok is home to 22 restaurants that received a michelin one star and six restaurants which received two stars. Michelin stars are a rating system used by the red Michelin Guide to grade restaurants on their quality. ... According to the Guide, one star signifies \"a very good restaurant\", two stars are \"excellent cooking that is worth a detour\", and three stars mean \"exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey\". If you are wondering yes it is the same brand as the tire company but getting a star I’m told is a big deal and for example there are only 140 restaurants in the US. We’ll start with one of the most famous places which is a one star Restaurant, Jae Fai. Jae Fai appeared in Netflix’s Street Food and is one of the first street vendors to earn a michelin star. Located in one of Bangkok\'s last timeless neighborhoods, where skyscrapers and designer malls don\'t exist, Jay Fai is a small no frills eatery, but what sets it apart are the 400 baht drunken noodles that come with ultra fresh monster prawns and she is also famous for her crab omelette. We actually were stupid even to try and show up and not make a reservation and it actually worked. When we got there people had been waiting for 3 hours and they were booked for months. We figured we’d give it a shot and after an hour we were in! I came by another day and there was no chance of getting in. if you go Make a reservation. A cool area to hang near where we stayed was Artbox. There was a variety of stalls, shops, live music, and food. Having never been to a Michelin Star restaurant before Jay Fai I wanted to try a more fancy place and we went to Janeh Saan. We went for the lunch special because it was like a quarter of the normal price but boy was it upscale and a different experience. Thai dishes crafted from ancient recipes that once impressed the royal family are the draw here. Dishes are a mix of classics and hard-to-find recipes, like hot and spicy soup (Kaeng Ranjuan), red curry with grilled pork, and sweet and sour coconut dip with crabmeat. They also have unique combinations of food like Watermelon, Sweet Dried Salmon and Sticky Rice. I also wanted to try what green curry at a place like this would taste like and I’ve had better in places like Krabi. The city is also full of little gems throughout the city like On lok yun which serves breakfast all day, Nattaporn for coconut ice cream. We didn’t get the crab omelette at Jae Fai so I went to Arua Asporn which is nearby and thought it was good! Also at Jae Fai we saw a line forming and it was for Thipsamai. It was listed as a michelin star honorable mention and I went back and got there early on accident but a line started to form at 4:35 when they opened at 5 PM. They are known for their Grand pad Thai, coconut icy, and orange juice. What to do in Bangkok? Bangkok Food Tour. Bangkok Foodie. Bangkok food tour. Bangkok Street food.
