'I\'ve had a few comments and questions about the process that I use to inoculate the food forest soil and wood chips used to develop the soil in the food forest as well as the materials I use to inoculate the soil around the berry bushes in our U-pick berry systems. In this video I explain how I use soil from areas that already are supporting large berry bushes and I show how I expand the amount of inoculum by using loads of wood chips that I deposited in the forest and allowed the forest floor to gradually expand the forest colonies of the mature forest food web into the wood chips so that I can use that material in various places on our property. Most people are familiar with probiotics and prebiotics. The probiotics are the beneficial microorganisms that we desire and they need prebiotics in order to thrive.
