'The only way to truly know if your compost tea process is working is to take a very close look. The simplest way to do that is with a microscope. Most of us know someone with one but just have never asked. So reach out to your circle and you\'d be surprised. Worse case is you do some online search and you find many relatively inexpensive and simple to use a opes out there. The fewer bells and whistles the better. Trust me don\'t be tempted by the fancy cheap one\'s claiming to magnify your slides to one thousand (I ended up sending two different brands back that fail to function) best to get something in the neighborhood of $150.-250. that magnifies up to 400 power. I\'m not an expert but I\'ve learned that whenever possible keep things simple at first then go more advance if need be later. One of the best tricks I learned from students in the past is to use your smartphone in the eyepiece of your microscope, telescope, or whatever device you would normally put your eye up against. Takes a little practice but your phone can zoom in, focus, change the lighting, record a video, or take great closeups that you can edit later. I\'ve been brewing compost tea for a number of years now and my main focus here is to create fungal dominated soil on this project that I\'m working on in Southern California.'
