'Soil Amendments Part 1 (Exploring the Soil Food Web)'

'Thank you for watching this episode of KT Outdoorz Garden content where we help you save money by sharing our methods for generating local, healthy food resources that continually builds the soil that ultimately feeds you and your family. We have been growing our own food and building a more sustainable life since 2012 here in zone 6b, and are looking forward to using this platform to share some of what we have learned with our viewers.   Today, we\'re starting what ended up being a five part series on Soil Amendments.  There is just so much to talk about!  Here in part one, we are exploring the role that the soil microbiome plays in supporting plant health.  Specifically, we will explore some of the main elements of the soil food web and how the interaction between millions of micro organisms help our plants grow to their healthiest form, with increased nutrient density.   I want to reiterate a very specific point that I have really begun to wrap my head around, and that is that we must understand the difference between organic soil amendments and fertilizer.  I like to think of it this way......fertilizer feeds plants whereas organic soil amendments in general feed the soil.  It has long been my intent to build the soil here on our property, and the information I have learned over the years about how to do that is exciting and hopefully, beneficial to our viewers.
