'There is an interesting story behind, turning dry prawn and mango into a favourite dish of Chettikulangara natives in connection with the origin of Chettikulangara temple. During the Kumbha Bharani festival, Kuthiyotta procession was passing in front of a house of a woman in the locality. The woman was cooking dry prawns and mangoes when the procession came by. She was in a dilemma that if she goes to see the procession her dish on fire would get burnt. But, she couldn\'t withstand her desire to see the procession. Having found no way, she prayed to the deity to keep her dish safe from burning over until she returns and went to see the procession. To her surprise, the dish was the same when she returned and the news spread all over the locality. In the long run, prawn and mango became an unavoidable dish during Kumbha-Bharani festival. In Chettikulangara, prawn costs Rs 600 per kg and the price of mango starts from Rs 60 onwards. Prawn is brought here from Neendakara and the sellers here produce prawn in large quantity viewing the demand for it during the festival season. Earlier, these two items were bought by natives, but now people who come to participate in the temple fest also buy them. #chettikulangara #temple #mavelikara #ulsavam #kumbabharani #bharani #onattukara Ormakal, kuttikalam, Nostalgia Watch related videos: https://youtu.be/1cvTw0kEBvI https://youtu.be/gqXsvjF7psY https://youtu.be/bXQ0tjBWgEw https://youtu.be/jLmDsff9bg8 https://youtu.be/ifFe8guaXdA'
