'http://www.homerepairtutor.com/how-to-clean-a-garbage-disposal Today I\'m going to share 4 quick tips for how to clean a garbage disposal. Just last week my best friend asked how he could stop the stinky smell coming from his disposal. If you\'re having the same problem as him then this video could help. 1. The first method is to cut a lemon in half then slice it into tiny half-moon sections. You can then push the lemons into the disposal, turn on the faucet (warm water), and run the disposal for 1 minute. The lemons are acidic (cleaning action) and will give the disposal nice citrusy smell. Plus, this is a nice natural method. 2. The second method is to make vinegar ice cubes and then throw the ice cubes into the disposal, turn on the water (warm), and run the disposal for 1 minute. Vinegar is acidic and will help clean the disposal while the ice will help abrade the blades and possibly sharpen them (I have my doubts about that last point but it\'s worth trying). 3. The third method is to pour 1/2 cup of baking soda into the disposal, let it sit for 1 hour, then add 1 cup of vinegar (you\'ll see the volcano reaction), run the faucet (warm water), and run the disposal for 1 minute. Baking soda will absorb the smell and the vinegar will neutralize/eliminate any remaining odors. 4. The fourth method is to pour 2-3 tablespoons of Borax into the disposal, wait 15 minutes, run the faucet (warm to hot water), then run the disposal for 1 minute. There are directions right on the Borax box for cleaning the disposal this way.
