'Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the National Presto 05461 Stainless Steel Pro Fry Immersion Element Deep Fryer. LINK to Presto: http://amzn.to/2tBWJej LINK to RECIPE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPQD5A9F2co It measures 9.9 inches tall, 9.75 inches wide and 13.8 inches deep. The unit weighs about 7 lbs. The cord is 26 inches long and Presto recommends that you do not use an extension cord. The fryer is heated by an 1800 watt immersion element. This holds 3 liters or 3.2 quarts of oil and you can fry up to 8 cups of food. There is a cover that goes on top of the basket so there is no oil splatter when you lower food into the oil. If you’re making french fries or other food with a high moisture content, don’t use the cover. There is a grease filter in the cover and you don’t have to replace it. This is the control unit with the heating element attached. When the oil is hot, the signal light will go out and you can set the temperature of the oil from 275 to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Before using the unit, wash the parts. The control unit with the heating element should be wiped with a damp cloth, don’t wash it with water. The base, pot, basket and cover are dishwasher safe or hand wash in warm soapy water. Dry all parts before using. Make sure to put the fryer on a heat resistant surface. There is a minimum and a maximum marking inside the pot. You have to fill oil to the minimum line and not go above the maximum line. As for the type of oil, use those with higher smoking temperatures like vegetable, corn, sunflower or peanut. Don’t use olive oil, shortening, butter, margarine or lard. There is a frying timetable with the type of food, quantity, time and temperature as well some recipes. You can also steam and boil using this unit and there are instructions in the manual. I doubt most of you will be buying this unit to steam so I’ll show you the frying part. When you fry, it’s important that all the parts of the unit are dry. Also, it’s best if you pat dry any food of excess moisture since hot oil and water are a dangerous combination. The basket comes with a handle. Put the pegs in the holds, squeeze the hooks and fit the bars in the brackets. To store, squeeze the hooks and fold the handle into the basket. I’ll make fried chicken because that’s probably what you’ll be frying most. Put the pot in the base. Slide the control assembly onto the base. These tabs go down the tracks. Go down as far as possible. I’ll pour oil halfway between the min and max line. Up to the max line would take about 12 cups of oil. Attach the magnetic plug to the unit and plug the cord into a wall outlet. Set the temperature, I’ll use 350. The red light comes on while the oil heats. Heating time should be about 10 minutes. The light goes out when the oil reaches the set temperature. These are chicken wings that are battered. I made this recipe in a cast iron pan on my other channel, Anitacooks.
